J\u00e1vea, or X\u00e0bia in Valencian, is located on the Costa Blanca in the Comunidad Valenciana and the province of Alicante. J\u00e1vea consists of 3 parts: the old village center, the harbor and the Arenal. In the old village center we still find the typical Spanish narrow streets and beautiful old facades. Here you will find the town hall, the church, the post office, several shops and there is also the weekly market on Thursdays.<\/p>\n
The port area is more modern and here too there are several shops and restaurants. In addition, you can walk along the water, eat or drink and of course visit the harbor itself and the fish market. The Arenal is the tourist area of J\u00e1vea, here there is a sandy beach and a pleasant boulevard with shops, restaurants and bars. During the day why not go to the beach and swim in the sea? Then go to eat in one of the restaurants or have a cocktail on the terrace overlooking the sea. In the summer especially, you can come here and enjoy the atmosphere until the early hours.<\/p>\n
Keep in mind that in Spain and therefore also in J\u00e1vea, a daily siesta is held, so many shops or institutions are closed at lunchtime from about 1.30 pm to 4.00 \/ 4.30 pm. However most restaurants and supermarkets are open all day.<\/p>\n
J\u00e1vea is known for the “Montgo” mountain, a 753 meter high rock that can be seen from many places in the village. From the side, the mountain resembles an elephant with an elongated trunk that runs into the sea. Around it is a beautiful nature reserve where you can walk or cycle. The more daring and experienced hiker can even climb to the top, from where there is a beautiful view of the surroundings.<\/p>\n

In the summer there are several chiringuitos in J\u00e1vea between the harbor and the Arenal. These are small wooden beach bars along the coast where you can appreciate the sea view whilst enjoying a drink and the cool breeze. You can also grab a bite to eat in most chiringuitos and they are open for a cocktail until late in the evening.<\/p>\n
In addition to sun, sea and beaches, J\u00e1vea also offers a great choice for active holiday makers. There are of course many water sports available such as surfing, windsurfing, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, water skiing or flyboarding. You can rent a pedal boat, motor boat or go jet skiing.<\/p>\n
For the sporty holiday-maker there are volleyball nets on the beach, tennis courts and some gyms. Furthermore, J\u00e1vea has a beautiful natural area where you can walk, cycle, mountain bike, mountain climb. There are also several walking and cycling routes.<\/p>\n
Golf enthusiasts can indulge in the surroundings. With the pleasant climate golf can be played almost all year round at the 9-hole golf course of J\u00e1vea, the beautiful 18-hole golf course of La Sella in Denia or at the 18-hole golf course Oliva Nova Golf.<\/p>\n
There is something for everyone on the El Arenal boulevard. Here you will find several restaurants that offer both meat and fish dishes as well as pizzas, pasta or hamburgers. You can eat at a Spanish, Italian, Mexican or Sushi restaurant. Tapas and paella’s are also on the menu in various restaurants on the Arenal.<\/p>\n
In the “puerto”, the port area of J\u00e1vea there are many cozy and atmospheric restaurants. With freshly caught sea fish, the fish dishes are particularly recommended here.<\/p>\n
Walking through the small streets of the old town you will find fantastic restaurants or typical Spanish bars where you can eat tapas or a complete 3-course meal for great value. The Spaniards like to eat a “menu del d\u00eda” at noon.<\/p>\n

La Cala de la Granadella<\/strong> located in the center of a small semicircular bay and protected from the waves by the Morro del Castell, La Granadella is a pebble cove with all the services (restaurants, lifeguard, water activities) but which, at the same time , is located in an idyllic natural environment, surrounded by small mountains covered with lush vegetation. An ideal cove for snorkeling or enjoying one of the best kayak routes in J\u00e1vea.<\/p>\n Cala Barraca de X\u00e0bia<\/strong>, also called Cala del Portitxol<\/strong> because it is located in front of the Isla del Portitxol, is one of the most beautiful and popular coves in J\u00e1vea. Like Cala Granadella, it has easy access by road (which is closed with a barrier when the parking spaces are full). It is also possible to access it on foot, following a simple route from the Creu del Portitxol viewpoint. In this cove, a popular destination for instagramers, we find a restaurant specializing in seafood, fresh fish and rice dishes. This pretty cove gets its name from the color of the small cliffs that border it. Also known as Caleta de Fora, visiting this cove in J\u00e1vea we can also discover the nearby Caleta de Dins, for which we will have to go through two small tunnels in the cliff, following the path that runs along the coast.<\/p>\n Although it is not really a cove, we must also mention the Cova Tallada<\/strong>, since it is one of the essential places to visit in J\u00e1vea \/ X\u00e0bia. La Cova Tallada is an impressive sea cave that is located on the cliffs of the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve, in the municipality of J\u00e1vea.<\/p>\n The last cove on the list is En Cal\u00f3<\/strong>, the so-called secret cove of X\u00e0bia. To tell the truth, it has little secret anymore, because in recent years its popularity has grown exponentially as a result of the countless photos that have appeared on social networks, newspapers and blogs. Of course, its beauty remains intact. In Cal\u00f3 it is a very small cove, whose entrance is protected by a huge rock detached from the cliffs that surround it.
